How to Apply

Grades 1-5

Students who reside within the traditional Carthay boundaries may enroll at any time, and can fulfill the application process by completing an eChoices application for grades 1-5.

All students outside Carthay's traditional boundaries applying for grades 1-5 must also complete an eChoices application and admission will be granted based on magnet points and availability.

Once a student is enrolled in the Carthay magnet program, he or she does not need to apply for later grades.

The eChoices application deadline is in November. After the November deadline, students can apply to Carthay using the Space Available Application.

Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten (TK)

All Kindergarten and TK students in Carthay's traditional boundaries are guaranteed admission.

Transitional Kindergarten, or TK, is year one of a two year Kindergarten program.  TK provides an early childhood education program that builds a bridge between preschool years and traditional Kindergarten. With increasing academic demands and structure in Kindergarten, some parents are aware that their child may not be ready for the traditional Kindergarten program. TK is designed for, but not restricted to, students who turn 5 years old between September 2 and December 2 and who may benefit from an enriched foundational early childhood education program to prepare them for success in traditional Kindergarten.

Kindergarten and TK students outside traditional boundaries can apply if there is space available and they obtain a waiver from their home school.

Kindergarten and TK applications are available in the spring at the Carthay front office.
