Student Council 2016-2017
Carthay Student Council
The Carthay Student Council is made up of four student officers--a president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. There are also classroom representatives for third through fifth grade. This group meets two Mondays a month to discuss issues, events, and fundraisers.
This year, the Student Council decided to also break up into four student clubs to plan activities and help with different parts of our life at Carthay. Anyone from second grade to fifth grade can join clubs, and we would love more students to participate! Being a part of any club means that you will attend Student Council meetings regularly, follow through with club jobs, and communicate with other club members kindly.
- Community Builders- this group plans activities that will build the school community closer together, such as the Guess Who game, where students interview a mystery member of the faculty or staff and share clues about them throughout the week over the loudspeaker.
- Safety Club- this group monitors the hall and playground to help make sure students are being safe.
- Peace Club- this group helps students work through disagreements and build friendships using ideas from conflict resolution and Class Council.
- Green Team- this group monitors the lunch area to make sure we leave our environment cleaner than we found it. This group specializes in recycling and helping other recycle.
Please sign up to join one of our Student Council clubs on the sign-ups outside the Carthay library.
Next meeting will be February 6 in the library.
